The Duck Website

Did you Know?

When hydroplaning on water, wood ducks can reach a maximum speed of up to 9.5mph (15km/h). That's faster than the average adult male runs! This ability is important for the ducks to be able to catch food and escape predators. The waterproof feathers and webbed feet of ducks are what allow this, as the feathers keep the duck dry and the feet allow as paddles.

About ISHRA

ISHRA, also known as the Isles of Shoals Historical & Research Association, is a group dedicated to the history, both natural and human, of the Isles of Shoals. We host a variety of public events focused around the isles, such as Meetings/Presentations twice a year to address questions about the isles, two overnight conferences each summer about the isles' history, and an annual potluck gathering for those who are interested in joining.
